| Howdy! I guess you really can't take the Texan and Aggie outta me, haha =) Well, I'm back in Jersey, working in Manhattan, and now am looking at a sweet deal into living in Midtown. If things work out, I'll be living with my friend Will and two other people, which will help in costs. Plus, living in Manhattan, when do you ever get to experience that? My co-workers at the Ziment Group are great. I have to admit, the work is super boring and will be tedious, but I'll learn a lot about marketing research. You gotta start from the ground and build from there and that's what I'm gonna do. Great Job PhilSA in hosting another successful Isang Mahal, I'm proud of you guys. The membership the officership are both strong. I had a great time hanging out with you guys and partying it up before I left! I'm really glad I got to go back to Texas for this short while. ____ For the most part, I miss Texas. It was actually pretty hard to leave this time, because I won't be able to come back in a while. Wow, I remember getting on the plane and looking back, then feeling very nostalgic. I was sitting by myself and I was watching Aggieland disappear, then I thought about my Mom and how she was crying when I left. Then... it all hit me at once. I was leaving and starting a new life. It wasn't something I could easily hold in. It was weird to have the flight attendant console me, it was kinda embarassing. There are only few times where I've cried and now I add that day to my list. To all my friends in A&M and Texas, I'll miss y'all! I hope to continue keeping in touch with you guys To PhilSA, you are my second family, truly and whole heartedly To my cousins, I couldn't ask for a more wonderful family tree And to my Family. I love you more than anything in this world ____ It's true that you don't know how much you're loved or how rich you are until you leave it all behind to pursue dreams on a path of uncertainty. But you truly appreciate those things and they shape your character, always residing within you never leaving your side. ~ A new chapter begins Mark Manglicmot Class of 2006 | | |
| Howdy! Okay, so in many aspects this opportunity is both regarded as a great and a lil weird. Today in Licoln Park, I was listening to Linkin' Park and playing tennis. Well, around 3 o'clock a school has tennis practice and the past two days they have had tournaments (which totally cuts my playing time). But, back to the point. I was practicing some serves (which I'm horrible at) and playing this mataba guy for some kicks and giggles. After I tire out this guy, the coach of this school comes up to me and here's the dialogue: Coach: So how long have you been playing? Me: Since I was in High School... I'm a bit rusty. Me: So do you coach Middle School? Coach: No High School (then the name, which I forgot) Coach: So you're in college now? Me: No ma'am, I actually graduated recently. Coach: From where? Me: Texas A&M University. Coach: So you're from Texas? Me: Yes... born and raised (such a Texan response, haha) Coach: Well, I saw you playing and was wondering if you would be interested in practicing or coaching with us. Me: Really? Well, I'm trying to find a job right now... Coach: Well, just think about it. It'd be good to have someone like you. Things running through my head. - What just happened? - Does that mean I can get free tennis balls!? Ooo... even free strings!? - This is interesting... two calls for interviews and a coaching opportunity, haha Somethings I forgot to mention... which makes this odd. - It's an All Girls Catholic High School - No pay... just volunteer (dammit) Yikes... please don't think of me as a pervert! For some odd reason, I have an inkling on how all the guys will react and how the girls will shun me, haha. Well, just an update. I miss you guys! P.S. That Fast Furious Tokyo movie is sooo wrong! I can't believe they put a jap engine in an american car and raced it! That's a slap in the face to both car manufacturers. | | |
| Wow, so yesterday I got some free stuff outta the blue! Free Starbucks, free burger, free bus ride! Still, I managed to spend over $50, mayn! By the way, one interview down, one on monday =) I came to NY with a one way ticket... great. I missed my flight and had to reschedule, which cost me $200 bucks! It's better than $500 for continental, but still (I'M POOR!) So I don't know when I'll be going to Texas! I really wanna see Isang Mahal, but I don't know how plausible that is. So all I've been doing here is the following: Tennis, Running, Manhattan, and having fun. I have yet to go to the Statue of Liberty, but eh. I wanna snowboard, ski, and see freakin' snow! Also, I need to make friends =) That is all | | |
| Howdy everyone! I haven't updated in forever, but I really didn't have much to say. I do know though.
I'm actually updating in New York... never really expected to be here, but I'm here. I'm actually here for the sole reason of finding a job. I've tried in Texas... but I haven't had luck. I was invited up to New York, so I took the offer and am now staying with family to look for a job.
So a few things about New York. It's a great city, very busy, close together, interesting, and above all... different. Some things I don't like... the smell, mean people, and traffic. So back to the job subject. I'm nervous... or maybe anxious, about interviewing here. You'd think interviewing is quite uniform throughout the US, but apparently it's not.
Once I get an interview I can tell you what it's like... but I've been doing mock ones and changing my resume... and that process alone was a lil overwhelming for me. I accept the challenge with open arms... but I can't change my ethics. It troubles me on the deception that goes around... or maybe I am naive. Still, I can't believe my ears when I realize such actions.
That bothers me mroe than anything, yet logic tells me it's accepted and it will help one get farther... faster. Then my conscience says, but is this more for self-gain and what about in the long run. Will I, too, become one of unethical practices?
Still, aside from that, I'm doing good. I still run a lot, I play tennis, I walk everywhere, and am amazed as to why there are no obese people here, hehe. I'll keep spirits high and hopefully perservere... but only time will tell how well things come out to be.
I miss Texas! I miss College Station peeps! I miss my family! I miss PhilSA! I miss the House! So don't think I forgot about you guys! | | |
